Breeding Power Explained (Palworld 1.0)
One hidden number per Pal
Every Pal in the Palworld 1.0 dataset has a Breeding Power value, also called CombiRank. You never see this number in the game itself — it works behind the scenes whenever two Pals breed.
The average, rounded up
For an ordinary pair, the game averages the two parents' Breeding Power values and rounds the result up. The child is the Pal in the ordinary formula pool whose Breeding Power is closest to that average. That is why two very different parents can still produce a predictable child, and why changing one parent by a small amount sometimes changes nothing and sometimes changes everything.
Ties go to the higher value
If two Pals in the pool are equally close to the averaged value, the one with the higher Breeding Power wins. This tie rule matters for pairs whose average lands exactly between two Pals — the calculator applies it automatically, so you do not have to work it out by hand.
Special combos come first
Before any averaging happens, the game checks the special-combo table. If the pair is listed there, that child wins no matter what the average says. Same-species pairs also skip the average entirely — they always breed true.
How to use this in practice
You do not need to memorise values. Pick a target in the calculator, look at its parent pairs, and work backwards: breed the parents first, then the target. The Path Finder does this backwards planning for you in up to five steps.
